We automatically track certain information based upon your use of a Website. We use this information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand and serve you and our community.
By using a Website or our services, you indicate your consent for BMLL and our third party service providers to send cookies to your computer in order to uniquely identify your browser and improve the quality of our services; you may turn off cookies in your browser, though, if you do so, some or all of our services may not work. Log Files. Like many websites, we automatically gather certain information about our Website traffic and store it in log files. This information includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the Website, to track users’ movements around the Website and to gather demographic information about our user base. We do not link this automatically collected data to Personal Information.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs). We employ a software technology called clear gifs, also referred to as web beacons, that help manage content on a Website by tracking what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our users’ Personal Information. We use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails recipients have opened. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. Embedded Scripts. We use Embedded Scripts, which are programming code that collects information about your interactions with a Website, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your computer or other device from our server or a third party provider and is deactivated or deleted when you disconnect from a Website. In addition, we may use a variety of other technologies that collect similar information for security and fraud detection purposes.
Mobile Use. If you visit our Website on a mobile device, we may collect information about your device type, which we use to improve the quality of our services. Use of a Website on a mobile device may allow your mobile carrier or other access provider to view data that appears on the device.
Registration. In order to use some Website features, you must first complete the registration form and create a user name and password. We provide this Payment Method information in encrypted form to a third party online payment service, who may use, retain and disclose such information to process payments for us.
We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your ongoing subscription. If we have trouble processing your subscription request on a monthly basis, we may use your Personal Information to contact you.
To fully use Premium Services, you may need to provide additional information, such as information relating to custom analyses you wish to conduct on a Website. We collect this additional information in order to provide you with the Premium Services and do not use such information for other purposes.
User-Provided Content and Other Messages. If you choose to post User-Provided Content, we will collect the information you post. We may use User-Provided Content that you post as described in the Terms and Conditions. We may also retain User-Provided Content as necessary to resolve disputes, provide customer support and troubleshoot problems as permitted by law. If you send us personal correspondence, such as emails or letters, or if other users or third parties send us correspondence about your activities or postings on a Website, we may collect such information into a file specific to you. Aggregate Information (Non-Personally Identifiable). We may share aggregated demographic information about our user base and Website use information with third parties, such as our third party service providers. This information does not identify individual users. We do not link aggregate user data with any Personal Information that specifically identifies an individual.
Agents and Service Providers. We use a credit card processing company to bill you for Premium Services, and we send them encrypted Personal Information for this purpose. Your interaction with any other third party payment services, such as PayPal, is subject to the terms and conditions provided by such third party. We use other third parties to provide us with analytical data about the use of our Websites, as described above.
Legal Disclaimer. We reserve the right to disclose your Personal Information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights; to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us or a Website; or in connection with an actual or proposed corporate transaction or insolvency proceeding involving all or part of our business that uses the Personal Information.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletters or other communications, if any, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication, or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If your Personal Information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, delete or deactivate it by emailing customer service at email@example.com.
The security of your Personal Information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as Payment Method information) on our registration forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
