Meet the Team: Rob Laible, Jenny Chen, Tom Jardine and Erik McBain
Rob Laible, Head of Americas
Rob is a highly accomplished capital markets executive with more than 30 years of experience running global institutional businesses across sales and trading, technology, compliance, risk and operations. Most recently, he served as Global Head of Equities at Liquidnet, responsible for the firm’s global institutional equities business. Based in New York, his focus has been on providing institutional asset managers with liquidity solutions supported by value-added execution services and advanced analytics to help traders compete in this era of automation and data-driven investing.
Prior to that, Rob held a variety of senior roles, including Chief Operating Officer, and Global Head of Execution & Quantitative Services, overseeing the development of Liquidnet’s award-winning suite of algos. Before his time at Liquidnet, Rob’s career included working for global organizations such as Macquarie Securities, Nomura, Lehman Brothers and ITG.
Jenny is a successful business leader with an investment banking and fintech background. Jenny Chen has over 20 years of experience working in the global financial industry, with a focus on execution services and global portfolio trading, based in the US. She has held a variety of senior roles at Société Générale as Managing Director, Head of Global Execution Services, Americas, responsible for all agency execution teams, sales, trading coverage, and algos; and Head of Global Portfolio Sales Trading and Electronic Services.
Prior to joining Société Générale, she spent 7 years at Goldman Sachs and 2 years at UBS in global portfolio trading. Most recently, Jenny served as Head of Sales, Americas, for big xyt.
Jenny Chen, Head of Sales, Americas
Tom Jardine, Customer-Facing Data Scientist, Americas
Tom is an equity trader with 20 years of experience at the bulge bracket institutional level, including Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and most recently, JP Morgan. He traded all types of equity, ETFs, portfolio trading, cash and electronic, and headed several trading desks. He was a significant player in the ETF secondary and primary markets launch. In addition to his extensive experience in New York, he has had two “tours of duty” in Tokyo trading index arbitrage and, more recently, running JPM’s cash, PT and electronic desks.
In 2012, Tom launched the JPM equity analytics team and spent 6 years working with the cash trading desk developing analytical tools and providing insights for both traders and management. He spearheaded a global OMS/analytics platform with over 150 users. He was also Head of Data Analytics and Client Services at Trade Informatics, an execution analytics specialist firm.
Erik is responsible for US sales operations, enablement and business development. Before joining BMLL, Erik was a sales growth leader at three other SaaS Fintechs, both at the intersection of machine learning and finance (Overbond, Boosted.ai and MindBridge).
Prior to his work with startups, Erik spent 10 years working in various institutional capital markets roles on both the buy and sell side, focusing on fixed-income sales and trading at Deutsche Bank, CIBC Global Markets, and the Bank of Canada. Erik holds a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CFA Charterholder.
